Their Majesties Edward and Thyra offer their great appreciation for all those who have offered help to fellow Easterners affected by Hurricane Sandy.

They have been greatly moved by the outpouring of thoughts and notes sent from around the Known World to show concern and solidarity with our Eastern people.

“We have received a great many offers of comfort and aid from across the Known World, notably from Ansteorra, Atenveldt, Caid, Gleann Abhann, the Middle, Outlands, West and from many who others have contacted our populace directly. The outpouring of support has been staggering and heartwarming. Remember that we are not alone within the society, and that we are cousins in deed as well as in name.”

Their Majesties have also seen many offers of help, and laud the generosity of the Society, and so continue to suggest that general donations be directed towards the HSRF or American Red Cross.

Duquesa Isabella of York, the East Kingdom Disaster Coordinator, noted hearteningly, that our Societal family in the East appears to have been largely spared by the storm.

Such demonstrations of concern are proof that our belief as a Society in chivalry, honor, and generosity remain well-placed.

THE EYE DENIES THE TINCTURE OF ITS LIGHT
A Sonnet by His Grace Dietrich von Vogelsang of Caid

The eye denies the tincture of its light,

The soul’s pursuivant cannot limn the glass,

But frights each pupil of its rondel’d bright,

As o’er friends, the skies assign their blast.

The tearing eye – its iris owes a storm,

And grieving showers, shared by plashing cheek,

Sorrowed by heaven’s black and trebled form,

Un-escutcheoned, loose their waters, bleak.

Eyes undone by wind and mazing rain,

Can see enow the white and steepled hands,

And see them lift, to plead before your pain,

Each palm in pawn for all your Tygered lands:

Though winds may rift for Nature’s fury’d ends,

You have the love and prayers of all your friends.

THE AGUE’D SKIES WITH GRIEF UPON THEIR TINES
Petrarchan Sonnet by His Grace Dietrich von Vogelsang of Caid

The ague’d skies with grief upon their tines,

Roil’d as the Chaldee, deaf to sorrow,

Complots its thunders against our morrow,

And by such clours Fortune undermines.

Surely, more mercies are made by war’s ursines,

There are sweet bairns that have slept through harrow,

But Nature, no ransom-scrip to borrow,

By ordered ires, dashes men and pines.

High waters hurt and carry what we have,

And Hope, unhatched, bedight in quivered shell,

Cockatrices all its blanching eggs.

Our keening hearts can offer little salve,

But prayers press on while earth and heaven bell:

“God save the East!” so every mother begs.

The Queyn, called Avelina , called forthe the Prynce and Prynces

To cumen tayk from her the burdyne of the crowyn.

Came Prynce Edward forthe, and his Prynces, Thyra called.

In chapel in Kyngdem Baronie called Concordia of the Snows

Did she lay down the crowyns burdyne to Edward.

Edward did plege to holde the relms of Easte,

To share his thronn withe Queyn, and did he mayke his Prynces thus.

Knelt at new Kynges feat, she swoyre to be Queyn.

Robed in colours brighte, bothen then did tayk the thrones

And send Avelina, gyven County to rewl, to contemplaseun.

Kenrick, twinne to Kynge (and samed named I see).

Was gyvenne Earldom to rewl, so honoured by Reales.

A Garde was called, and knightes came, and squires, and men a’armes.

Tokyns wer gyven, and a Writt that called forthe wonne Bruni

To stande anon for Pelicanes at a futurr dayt.

The pople did then rejoyce, and call new Kyng and Queyn in chear.

Our laws are fixed to guide our lands.
Our loyal King upholds those rules,
Rabble may rave but I know truth.

Their Royal Highnesses Edward and Thyra wish it to be known that the shall be visiting their Their Excellencies Havres de Glaces and their Subjects in Tir Mara on December 1.
